A poem for my Dad. I was thinking about what Dad would say if he could see you all sitting here today & it would probably be something like..."the numbers are good!" "Should've booked the entertainment!" & "he hasn't paid his subs!" & "Why isn't he wearing a poppy!" "Tell them please do not be sad be strong & carry on you all have families of your own & there's a legion to open & run" "Tell them I've had an eventful life elements yes filled with strife" "Simple things I have enjoyed my Dear wife Cathy my girls my boys my grandchildren & watching them grow bowling, darts & dominoes" "Lennie Deadman, legion Len tall suited & brave Father, chairman, organiser never afraid to have his say" "We'll look for you in Matt Monroe & Tony Bennett too of course Frank Sinatra was what we were bought up listening to" "We'll always know yourll be there Dad probably on our shoulders giving us advice & love until we are much older" "Every time we see a poppy it will remind us Dad of you rememberence, your passing, your kindness & loyalty too" "Lots of you are grieving today for the Len you thought you knew but to us he was simply our Dad & a really great one too" "We will miss you oh so very much our tall imposing Dad funny, fair, straight & kind never afraid to speak he's mind!" "You left your heart in San Francisco but for us it's Wix's lane family memories made there will always remain the same" "And all is left to say today is Len Deadman what a treasure!" "Our Dear & darling Father of course it's been our pleasure" From your ever loving daughter Sue xxxx
